On co-star Kim Cattrall’s salary and creative concerns: If I had thought it was any of my business at the time, what I would have said is, ‘Isn’t it okay for Kim to think that the money wasn’t right?’. Perhaps she was some kind of emotional psychic, because this way we made a better movie.

Kim Cattrall on her character: Having this fantastic character that I love and enjoy playing, it has a dark side. Not just because people don’t think of you for anything else. But people get out of touch with you as a person—and you can get out of touch with you as well.

On an earlier version of Sex and the City: Watch Jill Clayburgh in director Paul Mazursky’s An Unmarried Woman, which she calls an earlier version of Sex and the City, set in a far rawer seventies Manhattan.
