Angelina Jolie ~ In the Land of Blood and Honey

The Oscar winner Angelina Jolie makes her directorial debut with feature film ~ In the Land of Blood and Honey ~ and talks to Vanity Fair‘s Rich Cohen about the passion project. Enjoy some tidbits from the October 2011 issue ~

How directing ~ In the Land of Blood and Honey ~ will effect her ~ Brad thinks I’m going to be a nightmare [Jolie jokes]. I had such a good experience he thinks I’m going to be impatient with directors, which I already am. I get impatient with people working on a film that have their head in their hands like it’s the most complicated thing in the world.

On writing and directing ~ I’ve never felt more exposed. My whole career, I’ve hidden behind other people’s words. Now it’s me talking. You feel ridiculous when you get something wrong.

On how she came to write the script ~ I had the flu. I had to be quarantined from the children for two days. I was in the attic of a house in France. I was isolated, pacing. I don’t watch TV and I wasn’t reading anything. So I started writing. I went from the beginning to the end. I didn’t know any other way. She says she then let Brad take the script to read on a trip ~ He called and said, ‘You know, honey, it’s not that bad.

On Brad Pitt’s supportive role ~ He’d come in and say what he liked or what he didn’t understand. Like any woman, I would listen to most of it and fight a few things. He’s been so supportive. But it’s hard to separate the person that loves you from the critic, so I don’t think he’s a fair judge. But she goes on to say that ~ people will judge for themselves. I think if you make a good movie people walk away arguing.

The October 2011 Issue hits newsstands in New York and Los Angeles on Thursday, September 01, and drops everywhere else and iPads on Thursday, September 06.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie @ SAG Awards 2009

The Screen Actor Guild (SAG) nominees Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie attend the awards ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and on the red carpet they stopped by E! reporter Giuliana Rancic and this is what they had to say:

Brad: Let’s go to the next question. I just don’t want to get into it here… I’m really thrown by the GlamCam that’s undressing me as we speak.

Angie: It seems like a really odd moment for all of that. I’m sorry. [Brad]’s taught me a great deal. He’s a wonderful man and a great father and the person I admire most in the world because I know who he is every minute of every day. I think he’s extraordinary… We’ve been doing [the red carpet] together for four years – it’s always nice [to have him around]. I don’t think I’d want to be doing it alone. It’s nice to be doing it with your best friend and have a laugh in the middle of the show.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button – Premiere

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie attend to their fans and promote director David Fincher’s The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button at its premiere at Mann’s Village Theater in Los Angeles, California. The $150,000,000 budget Benjamin Button rolls into theaters on Thursday, December 25.

Benjamin Button is a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards. He is a man, like any of us, unable to stop time. Set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, we follow a journey that is as unusual as man’s life can be. As we travel through time, we meet the people and places that Benjamin bumps into along the way, the loves he loses and finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.
