Dirty Projectors @ Bitte Orca – New Album

For those of you who are as clueless as I was to this New York based experimental indie band – Dirty Projectors – get with the program. They’re from the Golden State originally, and have recently released there latest album – Bitte Orca – which is a concoction of irregular rhythms and quite beautiful female harmonies that made me thankful there are musicians out there making tunes that are sometimes challenging to comprehend, while evoking multiple audible orgasms intertwined with crunchy arrangements and unique vocal patterns.

Wilco @ Wilco (The Album)

It’s been said that the most valuable skill to master is self awareness. With Wilco‘s 7th LP – Wilco (The Album) – we take a ride on the heterogeneous melodies from the eclectic Chicago based group, as they continue to explore the vast depths of what makes their music stand out from the leagues of musicians working in the industry today. Jeff Tweedy proves again to be a song writing maven, and here, Wilco provides another album chalk full of substantial chill tunes. Check it out.

Phish @ Phish Fest Me!

Although it has been confirmed that Phish will be holding a three day festival, the question thousands of people are wondering is where? The October 30th – November 1st dates will be a musical, eye opening adventure for newbies, and hopefully another historic Halloween performance for Phish aficionados.

Most fans are privy to the band’s 1994 Halloween performance of The Beatles’ White Album, The Who’s Quadrophenia in 1995, Talking Heads’ Remain In Light in 1996, and Loaded by The Velvet Underground in 1998. The festival, rumored to be in Indio, California, will force a migration of unwavering masses, as this will cap an epic comeback tour and the release of Joy, the band’s first studio album in five years.

Phish is currently working on their 14th studio album – Joy – which is slated for release on Tuesday, July 28.

Neil Young @ International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees

Neil Young canceled his Los Angeles show tonight (Oct. 30) in support of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) union. IATSE is in a dispute with the venue owner, Faithful Central Bible Church. Young and his wife are honorary supporters of IATSE, making the decision difficult for the artist. Young stated, “I am extremely disappointed to have to choose between satisfying my fans or backing my brothers and sisters of the IATSE, I will miss playing in Los Angeles and apologize to my fans for the inconvenience this has caused.” The show will be rescheduled for a date in 2009. Ticket holders are able to refund tickets at points of purchase.
