Emile ‘Davenport’ Hirsch Humps Nylon

Speed Racer star Emile Hirsch graces the cover and pages of Nylon Guys to promote his role as activist Cleve Jones in director Gus Van Sant’s film – Milk.

On Director Peter Care’s The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys: I had no idea how to play the part. I didn’t understand the dialogue. I didn’t understand the character. But the casting director really believed in me. It’s funny because people now say, ‘That’s such a natural performance’, but in my mind that performance is the one most influenced by other actors.

On Picking Projects: I give a f—, but I don’t give that much of a f—. I’m still going to throw in some goofy s—. I don’t want to get too precious.

On Director Gus Van Sant’s Biofilm – Milk: I just had such a wonderful time. It’s such a great ensemble. Speed Racer was such a highly controlled performance environment that I found, honestly, a little frustrating at times just because it’s so hard when you’re on the green screen and it’s all about, ‘Bat this eyelash a little bit here.’ On Milk, it was just a free-for-all and we were all going nuts.

Hirsch is repped by Shani Rosenzweig @ United Talent Agency (UTA).

James Franco @ Gus Van Sant’s Milk – 1st Look

James Franco seems to be knocking it out of the park, he recently graduated with an English degree from UCLA and has two films coming out – Pineapple Express (Aug. 06) and director Gus Van Sant’s Milk (Nov. 26), a biopic about the first openly gay official.

Focus Features have release the first look of Franco’s character – Scott Smith – in Milk.

Focus Features

Here are excerpts from Franco’s interview in USA Today:

Director Judd Apatow on Franco’s dedication to his craft and as a person: a very smart, sweet person. He seems to have really evolved over the last 10 years into this really easygoing, approachable, warm man. When we did Freaks and Geeks, he was so hungry and obsessed with the work. It made him a little more of an intense guy. Now, he’s very happy in his life.

On his initimate scene with Sean Penn while shooting Milk: (First kiss lasted a) minute. It doesn’t sound like a long time, but in front of 200 people, it’s a long time, says Franco. We’re sitting on the curb, kissing. You can’t deny what’s going on. I’m kissing Spicoli and it’s still going and it’s not stopping and it was when he had a beard and the beard is scraping me. Afterwards, we were like, ‘All right, how are those Raiders?’

Franco is repped by Kami Putnam-Heist @ Endeavor, and manager Miles Levy @ James/Levy Management.
