A Single Man @ AFI Fest 2009

Designer Tom Ford makes his directional debut with A Single Man, which premieres tonight at AFI Fest 2009 as the Closing Night Gala presentation at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. And you can check out the two-minutes trailer below –

AFI Fest 2009 describes A Single Man as — Unfolding on a single day in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, this story follows George Falconer, a 52-year old British college professor [Colin Firth] who struggles to find meaning after the death of his long time partner. Dwelling on the past and unable to see his future, George is consoled by his closest friend Charley [Julianne Moore], a 48-year-old beauty who is wrestling with her own questions about the future, and stalked by Kenny [Nicholas Hoult], a young student coming to terms with his own true nature. Based on Christopher Isherwood’s novel, and featuring splendid performances and precise, gorgeous design on every level, Tom Ford’s acclaimed debut is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life.

You can get more information on AFI Fest 2009 @ afi.com. Tom Ford is repped by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and Ziffren, Brittenham, Branca, Fischer, Gilbert-Lurie, Stiffelman, Cook, Johnson, Lande & Wolf.
