Madonna Remembers Michael Jackson

The Queen of Pop star Madonna and fellow artists – Quincy Jones, Lisa Marie Presley, Brooke Shields, John Landis, Smokey Robinson and Usher – release statements about the death of Michael Jackson –

Kevin Mazur / WireImage

Quincy Jones: I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don’t have the words. Divinity brought our souls together on The Wiz and allowed us to do what we were able to throughout the 80’s. To this day, the music we created together on Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad is played in every corner of the world and the reason for that is because he had it all…talent, grace, professionalism and dedication. He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I’ve lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him.

Madonna: I can’t stop crying over the sad news. … I have always admired Michael Jackson. … The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! … My heart goes out to his 3 children and other members of his family. … God bless.

Lisa Marie Presley: I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible. I am heartbroken for his children, who I know were everything to him, and for his family. This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me.

Brooke Shields: My heart is overcome with sadness for the devastating loss of my true friend Michael. He was an extraordinary friend, artist and contributor to the world. I join his family and his fans in celebrating his incredible life and mourning his untimely passing.

Thriller director John Landis: I was lucky enough to know and work with Michael Jackson in his prime. Michael was an extraordinary talent and a truly great international star. He had a troubled and complicated life and despite his gifts, remains a tragic figure. My wife Deborah and I will always have great affection for him.

Smokey Robinson: It’s so shocking. “Michael was a gregarious prankster, but so advanced for his age talent-wise. He was watching everybody and learning all the time. He was a typical young boy too. One of my fondest memories is of him riding the golf carts when Bobby Taylor, who brought the Jackson 5 to Motown, and I played golf. The world is mourning the loss of his talent, and people will miss his music. Michael Jackson was one of the most intense, dynamic talents to ever live. When I was in London recently, the whole buzz was about those 50 concerts. He was still Michael Jackson.

Usher: This loss has deeply saddened me, with a heavy heart I composed this statement. May God cover you Michael. We all lift your name up in prayer. I pray for the entire JACKSON family particularly Michael’s mother and all his fans that loved him so much. I would not be the artist, performer, and philanthropist I am today without the influence of Michael. I have great admiration and respect for Him and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to meet and perform with such a great entertainer In so many ways he transcended culture. He broke barriers, he changed radio formats! With music, he made it possible for people like Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama to impact the mainstream world. His legacy is unparalleled Michael Jackson will never be forgotten.var addthis_pub=”reserveresult”;

Alex Rodriguez Humps Details

The New York Yankees 3rd baseman graces the cover and pages of April issue of Details, shot kissing himself at a mirror, crunching against a maitress and faux weeping. The interview titled Confessions of a Damned Yankee, arrives on newsstands Tuesday, March 24. And here are some excerpts:

On the public keeping a track record: We live in a world right now where everyone’s keeping score. And it doesn’t stop when the games end…They’ve crossed over. And you have the Internet stuff, and all these phones…It’s very intense.

On living in NYC: New York is one of a kind. It’s made me ask all the tough questions. It’s brought out the best in me. There are some things I have to work on. And that part is fun. Revealing the truth about yourself is always good.

On Madonna: Well, we’re friends…I have a lot of respect for her…She’s very smart and she’s passionate about everything she does…if there ever was any situation, she’s a great ear to have, you know?

Madonna Humps W @ 46 Pages

In Rio de Janeiro, Steve Klein shoots Madonna Ciccone and model Jesus Luz in a stunning 46-page W March 2009 issue of faux-film spread titled Madonna: Blame It On Rio, and this is the third collaboration between Meisel and Cicccone, previously 2006’s Madonna Rides Again and 2003’s Madonna Unbound.

The Madonna: Blame It On Rio embodies the motif of “…a powerful, sexy woman and her boyish plaything…” and elevates W ever-growing pix of high-concept artistic photos. W seems to be leading the pack as the place to go for the likes of Brad Pitt, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna’s artistic endeavors.

Madonna @ Louis Vuitton Campaign

In Parisian atmospheric setting, Steven Meisel shoots Madonna for Louis Vuitton’s upcoming advertising campaign. The 6-pictures Madonna prints will hit magazines on newsstands in February 2009. The smoky French bistro setting shoot with sepia-toned images evoking a Brassai atmosphere was shot at Figaro restaurant on North Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles.

Louis Vuitton’s Creative Director’s Marc Jacobs was inspire by Madonna’s Paris Concert: I just blurted out, I think we should do Madonna. I was totally just blown away by it, and moved by her performance, by what she had to say, and her energy.

As cliché as they are, I love all these French reference.

I still feel it looks like beautiful, gorgeous Madonna. Excepting the references and excepting the clichés, this still feels very today. And it didn’t feel so much like a fashion shoot, it feels like portraits.
